Yesterday was his birthday and thanks to his (totally awesome) new schedule at work (coaching track instead of baseball this spring) he is home in the evenings and on the weekends.....meaning....we got to celebrate his birthday this year on his actual birthday! All together! As a family! Before bedtime! Wow!

 

A couple of things he was pretty impressed with were the fact that I actually used the word "stud" in his lovie-dovie birthday card, ha, ha. And the fact that despite it being sappy it had little metal tools on front and a piece of wood!

He was also pretty stoked about going out for shrimp and steak for dinner, yum! A special treat!

We love you Jeremy (A.K.A. "Daddy") and wish you many, many more Happy Birthdays!

The Rock & Worship Roadshow Concert

Thanks to our friends Matt and Stephanie for inviting us to go with them to this concert!

It was actually the very first concert Jeremy has ever been to! Seriously! Hard to believe, I know....but I'm so glad that this was the one he got to go to first and that we got to enjoy it together.

The whole experience was certainly a night to remember. We had VIP passes at a sold-out American Airlines Center in Dallas with great seats. Even got free t-shirts and a free CD from Mercy Me signed by all the band members!
There was a variety of styles of rock, rap, rock/country, and something called the "wobble" in a genre all its own! Very entertaining! But above all it was also a night of praise and worship!

The bands were: Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, Tedashii, Kutless, Family Force Five, Luminate, Rhett Walker Band and more!

It looks like we were not as close to the stage as we actually were. And it was loud....my ears were ringing the rest of the night and I felt the music through my whole body, definitely some powerful sound system equipment!

P.S. Tiff, you guys should totally check this out they are coming to Seattle on March 2nd. Also, you've got to check out the band Family Force Five. Very "interesting and unique". Well, because we are such good friends, I'm sure you guys will appreciate this. It's been a while

since my last post

ok so the month of January was a roller coaster ride.... personally, emotionally, professionally, spiritually, physically the whole thing and I don't feel up to sharing all the specific ups and downs and challenges and heartache but I will say that through it all God is still God and he is good. He is the source of all of our hope and peace. This world has nothing of lasting value to offer, no joy when you feel despair, no healing for the hurting, no peace when you are afraid, no hope when you feel lost and confused, no salvation for eternity......those things can come only from a personal loving relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am thankful, yes, I am so thankful.

On a lighter note,
A couple of highlights for the scrapbook would include:

• Carley participating in the "Fun Run" fundraiser at her school and running more than the maximum number of laps......think we may have a future track star on our hands, dad...um, coach. ;-)
• Jeremy finished up basketball season and now gets home in the evenings well before the girls bedtime (and weekends off!!!) so we can all have time to sit around and look at each other....hmmm, what do we do with all this "together time"???
• Jeremy had a daddy daughter date night at home with the girls where he pulled the dining room table and chairs out of the way and suspended a large sheet from the chandelier to create a "tent" so they could go camping. It was complete with air mattress, books to read, and smores in front of the camp fire (aka: our electric fireplace, lol). The kids loved it. Any special time with dad is special, don't you agree?!
• Been reading a LOT lately, especially with cold and rainy days keeping us inside.....I don't mind it at all right now. ;)
• Doing the "Experiencing God" study with a new sunday school class at church.....going to be a journey of growth for sure! Daily homework assignments are filled with lots of "ouch" followed by "hmmm" and "wow" and "thank you Jesus", then "ouch" and "I'm sorry, Lord. Please forgive me and guide me gently to your will". Good stuff.
