Time just flew by and so much has happened.
I will try to give a "month in review" for any of you who are interested and for myself, because this blog is really the place I try to keep it all together, my attempt at a scrapbook for my kids....something I plan to print as a keepsake someday. Ha, ha!! Better get on that one since it's been about six years of posting now and I haven't printed any of it yet! Yikes!
Maybe that should be my first New Year's resolution, hmmmm.
December 2012
- At the first of the month I got to participate in a Progressive Dinner Party for the ladies at our church. This was a great motivation for me to clean house and decorate! It was a fun evening of great food and meeting new friends as we went in small groups first to the church for appetizers then to one house for soups, and on to my house for salads, and back to the church for a delicious main course and desserts! The kids and Jeremy had fun hanging out with friends and eating pizza while we enjoyed our five courses of deliciousness!
- Time flew by as we enjoyed the Christmas movies on TV, shopping, gift wrapping, school parties, and an adorable Christmas Musical at church where both of our girls sang. Carley did beautifully with the older kids, singing her part and smiling. Then Zoe got up on stage with the little ones.....she made her way to the front and center of the group and proceded to show off her best dance moves throughout the performance.... totally hilalrious and completely adorable!
- Trajedy unlike any other struck in a small town in Connecticut and our hearts were torn in two. We have no words. We pray through our disbelief and anger and heartache that God gives the comfort that can come from nowhere else. We will continue to pray for the families and loved ones living through this nightmare. May God's grace and peace and love cover them and carry them through.
- Our kiddos got the flu. Carley missed the last few days of school before the break. We all got put on Tamaflu. Jeremy didn't get sick, thank goodness.....because he carried us through and did all the work packing and getting us ready to go out of town. I got the worst flu I've ever had in my life and was bedridden for almost three straight days. We left town a little early to go to Jeremy's sweet grandfather's funeral. It was a time of reminiscing and getting together with family to remember and to spend time together in love. There were some positive steps taken to mend broken relationships for some of our loved ones and that is such a blessed answer to prayer.
- Jeremy and I had our 12 Year Anniversary..... even though I was cooped up in bed with fever, aches, and chills the whole day and slept right through it. (*Good excuse to plan something special to celebrate next year, hint, hint) :-)
- We were able to spend time with family we haven't seen in years for a Christmas Eve party in Amarillo. Cousins got to play together all day, play football, slide down hills on cardboard boxes, decorate ornaments and attend a Christmas Eve church service, and open presents together after eating lots of great food!!! We even managed to capture a few family photos while we were together. Unfortunately, this was also the night that Jeremy got a stomach bug and spent part of the evening throwing up in the bathroom. Poor guy. Seems like it was certainly the year for sickness! Some other family members also suffered from cold, flu, and stomach bugs. One even had a trip to the ER. Thank goodness he was treated and released to go home and rest. Yuck! Papa is still having some terrible back pain and so far the treatments haven't helped so we are praying he will be able to get the procedure he needs soon and that it will relieve his pain.
- We had snow Christmas morning!
- Celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ with loved ones and being able to share what He has done in our lives this past year and our hopes for 2013 was one of the most memorable and treasured moments of the season. Thank you mom for encouraging us siblings to all to open up and share during our get-together. I love you and all of our family so much!
- Congratulations to Jodi and Chris, who announced that they are going to have another baby in August! We are so excited for you and your beautiful growing family!
- Time at home with Jeremy and the girls has been priceless. I cannot express deeply enough how this quality time together has meant the world to me. Jeremy and I have had the chance to have actual conversations, relax together, and have fun without the stresses of school and sports. The girls have had their daddy's undivided attention and they have been enjoying every minute of it....playing games together, hanging out and just loving on dear old dad. One of Jeremy's New Years Resolutions is to have more quality family time...... love that guy so much, and I'm so proud of him. He is a great husband and dad!
- New Year's Eve was a cold and rainy day but that didn't diminish any little bit of the fun we had when our friends came over for an impromptu party at our house. All of the kids ran wild playing while the adults grazed on yummy party foods, talked, and ofcourse had a huge competition.... guys against girls in a game of Buzz Word. So much fun! When the ball dropped on tv and the fireworks started we celebrated with a variety of sparkling grape juice. The kids even got to enjoy the bubbly with their own fancy plastic champagne glasses. ;-D
Glad to hear all is well. I miss you, Girl.
