Delayed for the second weekend....and waiting

We were supposed to have moved into our new home the weekend of October 10th.

Unfortunately, the day before closing, October 7th, as we were in the middle of placing an order for carpet and wood flooring for the new home, I received a call that there might be a slight delay...

That delay was due to our buyers having to change the type of loan they got, which meant a whole laundry list of things that had to be done, re-done, sent from one place to another, verified, deposits made, more verification, more papers signed, then the long and tedious task of the underwriting process....we had NO IDEA it would drag out like it has.

But in the days since this all came down we have learned that we are not experiencing nearly the setbacks that some buyers/sellers have with this type of thing. So, for that, we are thankful. And we are hanging in there day by day. So anxious and ready to be in our new home.

We so truly appreciate the encouragement and prayers of friends and family and volunteers who have offered to help us move, only to have been put on standby more than once in this mess. Thank you for hanging in there with us and praying for it all to work out for the best.

So here we are again on the second weekend that we would have been settling in to our new home:

  • surrounded by boxes
  • wearing the same all to familiar outfits, lol
  • eating take out because we were holding out on a grocery shopping trip
  • rescheduling connect & disconnect dates (again) for utilities...boy was that a mess the first time!!
  • re-booking a U-Haul for the third time
  • rescheduling flooring installation
  • hoping friends & family can help if moving is in the middle of the week this time
  • hoping Jeremy can take a day off work (and that it won't fall on a game day)
  • re-scheduling the Art lesson I was supposed to have taught last week but couldn't because of being on call with our realtor (who, by the way is amazing in all this)
....and finally, taking advantage of this gorgeous Saturday to hang out at the park, go for a walk, play with the kids and have a family movie night tonight.

Because, what else have we got to do, right. ;-)

It's all good.

Here's hoping we close this week on Monday or Tuesday.
