The Back Yard Deck Revealed

So, Jeremy has been wanting to make a deck in our back yard for as long as we have lived in this house. Every summer, every spring or fall break he would ask if we could and we would always have a reason to wait.

Finally when his parents were here a few weeks ago he brought it up again and they agreed to help with "free labor" and assistance with childcare so how could we possibly resist. It was definitely a splurge to do this project but we decided it was one we were happy to make the sacrifice for.

Jeremy was so excited! I haven't seen him like that in a long time.... that guy really loves a good project and I LOVE that he is like that too. ;)

Here are some of the before and during pictures. They worked really hard getting everything prepped, measured, cut and stained. Thank you Brenda and Monte!

Unfortunately they got called away to work before getting to enjoy the finished project.... we will have to do a special cook-out next time they come through to celebrate.

The finished deck is gorgeous! I love how they did the boards on an angle and added lights around the perimiter that give off a soft glow at night. It's definitely an extension of our living space. We have enjoyed morning coffee and evening ice tea, sitting and watching the girls play, and even a nice night time fire in the firepit.

I painted my old bistro set and wall hanging planter black and painted several flower pots bright summer colors to really pop with our summer flowers. My favorite is the turquoise! We got a fantastic deal on our outdoor furniture after much searching and we are so happy with it.... especially the rocking chairs!

So there it is, our new favorite place to hang out!
