This past week was a very full holiday week.
We had an early Christmas get together with Nana and Papa coming in for a visit. Nana and Papa really treated us. They helped us take some family photos and then took the girls to see Santa. The outdoor shopping area we went to also had a giant Christmas tree display that put on a show to music, so cool! We did some baking, decorating ornaments, and watching Christmas movies.
Jeremy won the grand prize for the ugly sweater contest at the high school! (Thanks Tay)
And our elves were busy with some creative visits: including one where they were found in my art room with crayons and a finished coloring book spread featuring pictures of themselves. (They have also been caught rollerblading, hanging from light fixtures, trying to peek out the peephole on the front door, coming out of cookie jars, and hiding behind things on the entertainment center.)
Then there was my birthday, which involved eating way too much delicious food at two separate fancy dinners, including dessert! Yum and ugh where are my stretchy pants!
Then the weekend arrived and Brent and Tyler came for a quick visit. The kids loved getting to hang out and play and have a sleep over. The guys got to go watch the high school football playoffs together in Arlington at Cowboy stadium. Can't believe it was the first time Jeremy and Brent sat in the stands to watch a football game together...ever! Wow!!
And finally, it was also the weekend we got to celebrate our 13th Wedding Anniversary!
I actually got to be the one to pull off a big surprise for my sweetie this year.
He thought I just wanted to go out somewhere for a fancy dinner.....but, to his surprise I had already packed our bags, arranged a babysitter (thanks Mom!!), and booked us a fancy room at the gorgeous historic Grand Hotel in downtown McKinney with a romance package including champagne, chocolate strawberries, and a four course dinner at one of the most exclusive restaurants in town, Rick's Chophouse. We had the best picks of the menu, feasting on Buffalo steak, asparagus, lobster, crab, filet mignon, bleu cheese infused cornbread, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, delicious salad with spiced pecans and feta cheese, and a spicy tortilla soup. We finished it all off with key lime pie and Blonde & Dark Chocolate brownies with ice cream.
* And they packaged up all that we couldn't eat so we got to take it home for later!
After dinner we went to a local hot spot just off the downtown square called Cadillac Pizza where they had some amazing live music.
The next morning we enjoyed a little stroll over to a local coffee shop called Snug for a decadent breakfast sandwich and yummy seasonally flavored coffee. And there was plenty of time to get back to Anna to make it to the late church service. A perfect surprise romantic get-away that wasn't too far away.
*desserts*
*A little anniversary collage: check out the gorgeous boots Jeremy got me and the lavender roses (just like we had in our wedding....love my thoughtful hubby!)
Then and now I love you so! It has been a wonderful journey living out our happily ever after together. Just getting better year by year. xoxo
