Spring Break 2014 Camping With our Girls

Our little ragamuffin crew embarked on an adventure during Spring Break! We went on our first bonafied overnight family camping trip together. Zoe was finally old enough to really get into it and Jeremy was like a kid at a candy store making his list and packing and getting everything organized for the trip. We bought our fishing license and took the new fishing gear the girls received from grandpa for Christmas. We borrowed a few camping items from Chris and packed up our tent and sleeping bags, food and water and hit the road. The weather was amazing. Could not have asked for a more wonderful getaway, exploring nature, enjoying the fresh outdoors and nature and seeing our children thrilled to be a part of it all. It brought back memories of camping with my dad when I was a kid, and filled us with joy that we are creating these types of memories with our girls.

We found fossils and clam shells everywhere on the rocky shore near the lake, just a short trail walk from our campsite. We fished, but didn't catch anything.
Jeremy carved our initials in a tree by our campfire.
We cooked all of our meals over an open fire. Carley really enjoyed helping. Hot dogs, smores, bacon and eggs and coffee....all with that wonderful campfire smoke flavor.
We hiked trails through the state park, and relaxed while whittling on walking sticks for each of the girls with pocket knives. We slept under the gorgeous sky full of stars and a bright half moon (or attempted it anyway ....next time we must remember an air mattress for the tent, don't even care if you think I'm a spoiled city girl for saying so, lol)

We also found a wonderful sandy beach (with ice cold water!) and really cool caves to explore.

It was a camping trip we will always remember and cherish.
