I twisted Jeremy's arm just enough to convince him it would be a "fabulous idea" to stop over in Charleston, South Carolina....something we definitely shouldn't miss. We could stretch our legs and take in some of the rich history....and he is a history teacher after all.
The buildings and homes make you feel like you are stepping back in time. The historic part of the city is gorgeous. I am in love with southern towns like this and I would have stayed for a week to go on all of the guided tours if we could have. Now we just have to go back someday.
In these photos you can see much of that well preserved beautiful architecture. One picture is of Fort Sumter in the distance off the shore. This is where the battle that began the Civil War took place in January of 1861. Abraham Lincoln had just been elected President and South Carolina had seceded from the Union.
side note-*(Brenda, I know you love history too and I just came across a wonderful new Christian Fiction author named Lynn Austin who has a series called "Refiner's Fire". I got the first book on my Kindle when we got back home....soooo good. Three books: each during the Civil War, all intertwined and told from the perspectives of Southern, Northern and slave. I cried through the whole first one and learned a lot too, it was so well written, looking forward to reading the others soon.)
Now pictures of what you really want to see....us. LOL
I love these last pictures. The girls each took a rest break on a park bench and I snapped their photos when they weren't paying attention. Notice anything similar?
Classic facial expressions in this one. Makes me laugh every time.
Next stop Orlando.
Nope. Still not able to control the excitement.
This trip is so much fun we may just burst!
